The Night Window PDF/EPUB Î The Night PDF \ Apparently this is my week to read Hawk books H is for Hawk earlier in the week and now I finish off the Jane Hawk series from Dean Koontz I may not have had a glowing review for H is for Hawk, but the Jane Hawk series ended with a big and spectacular bang Thanks to Bantam Books Random house for this ARC I think this is one of the few times I am actually getting to an ARC while it is still Advanced And, again, a standing ovation for Dustin Crazy little brown owl moderator of Koontzland the definitive Koontz Goodreads group for hosting another book giveaway This whole series was great There is so much to be found here, including Lots and lots and lots of chases Very creepy bad guys Mind control Brain fried zombie monsters Espionage Corruption Computer hacking Black market deals Triumphant heroics Heroes you love to love Teeth grinding, intensely perilous, suspenseful moments Events in the United States from coast to coast Characters losing touch with reality And, since it is Koontz, dogs I have read parts or all of a couple of Koontz s other series Odd Thomas and Frankenstein and I think this one is his best so far It does not have quite as much of the horror supernatural creepiness that many expect from Koontz So, if that is what you love about him, this may not be the series for you But, if you love edge of your seat techno thrillers, you cannot go wrong here Here are some links to my other reviews from the series all of them very strong and worth reading, but read them in order or you will be very confused Book 1 The Silent CornerBook 2 The Whispering RoomBook 3 The Crooked StaircaseBook 4 The Forbidden Door I won this book in a Goodreads Giveaway I enjoyed it, but I usually do with Dean Koontz I have been reading him since a kid, about a million years ago Dean Koontz concludes the insanely thrilling Jane Hawk series in fine style with a shocking leftfield conclusion This has the feel of the Will Smith film, Enemy of the State, with Jane as the feisty stellar protagonist being ferociously hunted down, she is joined in her battle by the genius hacker that is Vikram Rangenaker and the few allies who believe in her At the heart of the conspiracy is the Voldemort like billionaire, Wainwright Hollister, and his death eater government and private industry cabal of Techno Arcadians The pure evil that is Hollister is convinced of his godlike invincibility and the inevitable subjugation of humanity, with its adjusted individuals, and technological slavery There are engineered suicides and the wiping out of any person perceived to challenge his malignant vision, all of whom find themselves on the Hamlet List to be assassinated On the Hamlet List is a film maker, Thomas Buckle, lured by Hollister to provide him with a deadly entertainment.Jane has left her beloved 5 year old son, Travis, in safe hands but with all the powerful and ruthless forces arraigned against her, not to mention the criminal elements out there in society, how long will he remain safe With Vikram avidly chasing the kind of information on Jane s enemies that will help to bring them down, her priority is to save Travis at any cost Leading the hunt for Jane is the cruel Charles Weatherwax, a man who enjoys torturing people, and his partner, Mustafa al Yamani with his aspirational dreams of the highest social circles, a Tom Buchanan wannabe from The Great Gatsby, in search of his very own Daisy An enraged and drug fuelled Charlie and Mustafa become desperate to avoid being adjusted as they find themselves being Vikramised In the meantime, Jane feels there is only one way to try and overcome the conspiracists, but could it succeed and what price will it exact Koontz writes a tense and exciting conclusion to this excellent thriller series, fast paced with its short and snappy chapters, and which piles on the suspense and tension admirably right through to the unbelievable and surprising end This is a series that is for all those who love nail biting and compulsive thrillers and for all Dean Koontz fans Fabulously entertaining and highly recommended Many thanks to HarperCollins for an ARC. This is book 5 of the Jane Hawk series And as most everyone is aware it will be the last in the series I m a relative newcomer to Dean Koontz s work this being my only exposure to his writing And while I ve found it entertaining, it s been a bit of a roller coaster for me There were some books in the series that I thoroughly enjoyed, leaving me breathless While others seemed lacking, and or less just a filler to the installment The last book, The Night Window didn t hold the excitement throughout that I d hoped it would I was hoping for something a bit different from previous books and I just didn t feel it But The final 20% had me hooked I couldn t wait to see how Dean Koontz was going to wrap up this highly successful series Well done I continue to love Bernie Riggowitz and Cornell Jasperson My two favorite characters of the series I will indeed miss them both I will now be watching for perhaps the start to a new series from Mr Koontz I m ready Thank you to NetGalley, Random House Publishing Group Ballantine and Dean Koontz for an ARC to read in exchange for an honest review This one was good In fact it was very, very good and it finished the series off in great style.I loved the way Koontz wrote it, in short choppy chapters, each one bouncing around between different characters Every time he reaches a really suspenseful moment with one person the chapter ends and the reader is left hanging while he deals with another character It was very stressful but certainly built up the excitement Koontz knows how to write really nasty characters and there were many of them Of course the nastier they are the glorious it is to see them get their due And they did, in spades He can also write good characters like Jane who we have followed now through five books At last something good can maybe happen for her Vikram also had a huge role in this final book and proved himself to be pretty amazing Best of all was the ending with a solution only the author could have dreamed up I thought it was just right and I finished the book with a smile on my face Well done Mr Koontz and long may you keep writing books. My thanks to Random House Publishing, Ballantine, Bantam and Netgalley.I finished this book a few days ago, but had to wait to leave a review until I had de stressed a bit These 5 books have been up and down for me I loved book one, hated book two, and was pretty happy with the rest There has been so much death of side characters that I worried my behind off about this one Don t get me wrong, because I like authors who kill characters willy nilly, but dang it, it does ratchet up the tension Jane and all the good people she met along the way are wonderful characters Luckily, there were quite a few laughs along the way The bad guys were mostly all nutjobs Scary, sometimes funny and I did enjoy seeing them bite the dust The thing with these books were how the brain nano webs work, and who and why some insanomaniacs would think it s a great idea This is something that could happen The thought is terrifying What kept this from being a 5 star series though is something as simple as the characters being so over the top exaggerated Almost like a comic book Still, I loved the series, and the ending I m often amazed a what writers come up with Also, and I never say this, but I think this would make a great T.V show This is a book series of books that I d recommend Just start at the beginning or you ll miss all the good stuff that leads to the end You ve been Vikramized. 1 New York Times bestselling author Dean Koontz brings Jane Hawk s one woman war to an explosive climax as the rogue FBI agent wages her final battle against a terrifying conspiracy for vengeance, for justice, and for humanity s freedom Groundbreaking, wholly involving, eerily prescient and terrifyingly topical, Dean Koontz s Jane Hawk series sets a new standard for contemporary thrillers Since her sensational debut in The Silent Corner, readers have been riveted by Jane Hawk s resolute quest to take down the influential architects of an accelerating operation to control every level of society via an army of mind altered citizens At first, only Jane stood against the Arcadian conspirators, but slowly others have emerged to stand with her, even as there are troubling signs that the adjusted people are beginning to spin viciously out of control Now, in the thrilling, climactic showdown that will decide America s future, Jane will require all her resources andas she confronts those at the malevolent, impregnable center of power. I found this long and redundant I couldn t wait for it to end which raised my rating from a 1 to a 2 star 4 of 10 stars This was a buddy read with my husband who loves Dean Koontz I read the first, second and now final book in the Jane Hawk series It didn t take long to get caught up to what was happening.Jane is a strong, intelligent heroine, as she is on the hunt for the crazy billionaire, Warwick Hollister With those working with him they have managed to implant devices into the minds of about 16,000 people in the US His goal is world domination and he has a God complex , he believes he is destined to rule His group is now called the Arcadians It is impossible for Jane, or anyone, to know which people have been implanted with the device since they act normally until they are commanded to do something, including committing suicide which Jane s husband had done Likewise it is difficult for Jane to hide as there are surveillance cameras everywhere with sophisticated face recognition software which makes using conventional disguises useless.Jane has had her son in hiding hoping to protect him from anyone who is tracking her trail. In this book Jane finally has help in the form of FBI guy Vikram Rangneckar He not only has obvious great tracking abilities but he is also a computer nerd who has a secret crush on Jane and will do anything he can to help her. This was an entertaining read and Mr Koontz keeps the action moving and Jane on the run This book is a very good ending and I m glad that he chose to keep the series fairly short which kept everyone s interest peaked.I enjoyed reading this book and see that it is getting rave reviews from Koontz followers I recommend it for sheer entertainment value.I received an ARC of this novel from the publisher through Edelweiss. An awesome, thrilling finale to the Jane Hawk series Dean Koontz this has been an outstanding series You do need to read this series from the beginning though I don t think you could pick up this final book and easily figure out what has happened Action packed and full of tension I couldn t put this one down I agree with the quote Jane Hawk is arguably the best character Koontz has created Simply put, wow Associated Press I d give the series a 5 star rating The mind control theme is really interesting and Jane Hawk makes a great heroine Many thanks to Dean Koontz and Random House Publishing, Ballantine, Bantam through Netgalley for an advance copy.
